Histories | ![]() | Notes on connection to the ROYD family. 31/7/16: made connection between Christopher ROYD, father of John Royd who married Susannah Fielden and the rest of the Elland family. connection restored! On reviewing this in May 2012, there was a change to the original geneology To confirm what is backed up by (online) parish records, checked on FindMyPast, plus backup from Wakefield transcrption 9http://www.andrewwakefield.co.uk/Marsland/Marsland%20Index%20of%20Baptisms.htm) GRACE ROYD married JOHN MARSLAND in Elland in 1646 GRACE (Gratia) ROYD was born in Elland to a JOHANNIS ROYD in 1618 JOHANNES ROYD married SUSANNAH fFIELDEN in Elland in 1607 The Pedigree of the Family Royd book does not have a John marrying a Susannah Fielden. The only mention of Susannah Fielden is of a cousin (who married an Utley). This does show a connection between the family. The JOHN ROYD (b. 1580) originally listed as the father of GRACE ROYD in this website is listed as dying in 1602 in the Royd Pedigree book- so connection there is not possible. Reviewing all possible options, it appears the father for Grace is the JOHN ROYD who married ELIZABETH LIGHTOWLERS in 1621. He was born in 1576, so could easily have had an earlier wife, in Susannah. To support this, a Susannah ROYDE, wife of Joh'is was buried in Elland 15 July 1620. (He also had a mother and sister called Grace, which would support naming a child called Grace). The Royd Pedigree book does appear to cover all Royds in Soyland/Elland,so unlikely completely unknown line. The connections have been altered accordingly. |
